Audition for Music Man!

New Paradigm Theatre and the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra are producing the concert version of The Music Man on Saturday, February 10th.  This is the fourth collaborative production utilizing the full symphony, Broadway performers, local adults and teens.  

Two important young roles are being auditioned on Sunday January 14th from 2:30-3:30.  

Audition Location: Emmanuel Church’s parish hall – 285 Lyons Plain Rd. Weston CT. 

Requirements: 

  • Each of these characters can be ages 9-12 as long as they appear close to 10 years old on stage.
  • Both should be local hires.
  • Parents should be able to get these performers to rehearsals starting on February 4th (read thru of show with whole cast) and then Feb 5-9th (after school).  Rehearsals are at Norwalk City Hall.  
  • The show is Saturday, February 10th at 7:30.  Norwalk City Hall (concert hall seating 1100 people).

Winthrop Paroo  (Gender: Male; Vocal range top: Eb5; Vocal range bottom: C4) Winthrop should appear to be young and his voice must be unchanged and he should be a good actor. Winthrop also needs to be able to affect a believable lisp. Winthrop has to transform from a shy child to an outspoken child.

Amaryllis (Gender: Female) Amaryllis is the slightly bratty girl who studies piano with Marian. Amaryllis should be a good actor and singer, and roughly the same size as Winthrop.

If you cannot make the audition live we can accept a video submission of the required materials by Jan 11th.  

If you have a resume and picture please send that as a pdf attachment.  Do not worry if you do not have a professional picture. Just attach your most recent.  

Also please supply the following information in your email requesting am audition between 2:30-3:30 on January 14th:

1. Where do you live and are you able to get your child to rehearsals and performances as required above?

2.  Do you understand that this is not a paid position but a chance to sing with the symphony and other Broadway performers?

3. Would you like to be considered for ensemble or understudy if you do not get one of these parts?

4. If you do not have a resume please list a few singing or acting experiences the child has had recently.
