Director’s Note
Guys and Dolls may seem like pure musical comedy, but underneath the laughs is a story about a city in chaos: institutions wobbling, leaders puffed up with bluster, and everyday people just trying to find their footing.
In this production, we lean into that tension. Without changing a word of the script, we frame New York as a world of noise, spin, and spectacle — a place where the people in power feel larger than life but strangely unstable. Through design, staging, and imagery, we highlight the push and pull between hype and truth, order and disorder.
At its heart, though, this is a play about love and community enduring in uncertain times. We enjoy the songs, the humor, and the romance — and we want you to consider how this classic story still speaks to the world around us today.
Co-production with New Paradigm Theatre
and The Norwalk Symphony Orchestra.

You must prepare all of the required sides when you are given an appointment.
Our rehearsal period is very short and intense, so no one may miss any of the rehearsal dates. We cast Broadway and local professionals who have experience rehearsing quickly , and singing with a full orchestra in leading roles, as well as community theatre and student actor/singers, who gain experience and a professional credit for secondary and ensemble roles.
Do not apply for an audition appointment if you have a conflict with any of the rehearsals.
Rehearsals:
Jan 31st (ensemble/secondary roles who will also sing with the ensemble) 1-5 pm
Leading four roles (Sarah, Sky, Adelaide, Nathan):
Feb 1 – Feb 6. 1:00 -10:30 pm (TBD for specific rehearsal schedule, but do not apply if you have any conflicts with these times). NOTE: We will also be hearing NY actors with Broadway or substantial regional credits for these four roles.
ALL OTHER Principal roles: Feb 1-6, 3:00 pm – 10:30 pm (TBD for specific rehearsal schedule but do not apply if you have any conflicts with these times)
Ensemble: Feb 1-6, 4/5 pm – 10:30 pm. (TBD for specific rehearsal schedule but do not apply if you have any conflicts with these times)
In our concert version, we will be lightly staged. All characters will stay on stage the entire time and, other than the four leading roles, everyone will also sing the ensemble songs. The entire orchestra is on stage with us.
Principal roles have per diems attached due to the significant amount of preparation and rehearsal time required.
The show should be memorized by the first day of rehearsal
because we have only 6 days to rehearse with the director and maestro.
