Aren’t we all longing for some “in-person” events?

New Paradigm Theatre’s goal is always to combine education and mentoring by industry professionals with any event or production.  NPT’s signature event, So Ya Wanna Be A Broadway Star is a chance for singers and actors from age 8 to adult to audition and receive professional feedback from Broadway and film casting directors, agents and producers – on the lawn!  Many actors and singers are tired of just hearing “thank you” after auditions and not knowing what the professionals behind the desk really think or how to improve.

This educational audition master class is also a chance for us to choose performers for future events including our “NPT Favorites” concert on October 10th.

We will allow the audience at “So Ya Wanna Be a Broadway Star?” to choose a “Fan Favorite” at the end of the event.  The winner will receive $100 due to a generous donation and a feature solo spot in our October 10th concert with our Broadway pros.  And everyone who performs/auditions on September 26th will be offered the chance to perform in a chorus number in our “NPT Favorites” concert on October 10th at Emmanuel on the lawn!

Networking is crucial in the entertainment industry, and the singers who audition this year will  meet and receive feedback from professionals:
Paul Bogaev  (Music Producer Movies- Dreamgirls, Chicago and Across the Universe),
Scott Bryce
(Emmy nominated Actor and director),
Janelle Robinson  (
Broadway performer and professor at WCSU and Hartt school)
Cidalia Kettles, (NPT’s first Broadway star winner! Cidalia is an actor, teacher and NPT recently featured her as “Bloody Mary” in NPT’s co-production of South Pacific with the Norwalk Symphony.

Chris Coogan, will be accompanying this master class. Music director for NPT, Chris was called “a masterful pianist” by the New York Times, and is a composer, performer, teacher, choir director and producer.

Kristin Huffman, NPT’s Producing Artistic Director, Broadway performer, and professor at University of Hartford, will host and also lead a panel discussion and the audience (friends, parents and auditioners) may ask insider questions about the industry.  “Mentoring is a large component of NPT’s mission statement. We often feature the stand-out performers (adult and youth) we see at this event, in our shows.”

PRE-registration is required and there is a discount for early registration (before September 8th).  Download application and email to Info@nptheatre.org asap. Registration is capped at 20 participants.

Audience members who are not registered to perform but want to watch and learn may pay $10 at the door.  Parents and other supporters are welcome and should wear masks and bring a blanket or chairs to sit on the lawn.  Admission into the church facilities will not be allowed but there is a bathroom onsite. Water and snacks will be sold as well.

*Panelists subject to change.

Patron and artist safety is a priority at NPT.
