FOOTLOOSE ADULT AUDITIONS

  • LIVE AUDITIONS:
  • When: May 30th  12:00-3:00pm
  • Where: Emmanuel Church, 285 Lyons Plain Rd., Weston
    • Shows are rehearsed at Emmanuel Church and performed at Black Rock Church/theatre.
  • Who: Director, Musical director, Choreographer, Designers, Stage managers etc are all professional. Some leading actors are AEA or SAG/AFTRA.

NPT is an edgy nonprofit theatre that works with Broadway, film and TV pros onstage and off to promote our mission of creating young leaders, global thinkers and problem solvers through arts education and productions.  There is a mixture of professional (AEA) and local adult performers, as well as inner city youth and lower Fairfield youth in our productions.  We also promote another community nonprofit that reflects the theme of each show.  

PLEASE BE SURE TO READ THE BREAKDOWN AND THE DATES BELOW BEFORE YOU SUBMIT FOR A LIVE AUDITION TIME SLOT OR IF YOU ARE SENDING IN A VIDEO.  

To get a live audition spot in Weston CT you must write us at nptfootloose@gmail.com with the subject line “Live audition/ (write the character you are interested in auditioning for)

It is possible that we will have found our leading “teen” roles through video auditions, A-1 auditions and local college auditions, so please feel free to submit a video now for those.

If you are auditioning for any other ADULT role you may wait until May 30th to sing for us live. Please write us at nptfootloose@gmail.com to get a time for your audition. Subject line: Adult auditions/(character name) or ensemble/ . And please include your headshot and resume with your submission.

Requirements to be considered:

You must be available for all rehearsals starting July 26th through the show dates, Aug 14th and 15th (three shows). We will not consider anyone who must miss more than two rehearsals and we cannot allow any missed rehearsals during tech week Aug 10-14th.  Any conflicts must be listed and approved at the audition. 

FOR REFERENCE: 

Most “teen” rehearsals are 12-5pm weekdays and adult rehearsals are evenings from 6-10pm (variable calls).  

Weekends are 12-7pm for everyone (variable calls) and the TECH/DRESS week is 3:00 – 10:00pm August 10, 11, 13, 2019 (mon/tues/thurs) with three performances: August 14 (Friday 7pm) & August 15 (Saturday 2pm and 7pm) 2019. 

PAYMENT: Some roles pay a per diem and some do not. If there is not a salary listed then those roles are not paid. 

There are only two AEA contracts and those roles have been filled (Reverend Shaw and Vi).  For this show contract AEA will not allowed us to give AEA points. 

If you are not able to make the auditions on May 30 you may send in a video to nptfootloose@gmail.com. It must include the sides listed for the character below and be received by May 1.  Videos received after this time cannot be considered. PLEASE BE SURE TO INCLUDE THE ROLE YOU ARE SUBMITTING FOR IN THE SUBJECT LINE. Also send your resume and headshot.

Be sure to read carefully and bring in only the material required for each role. Bring your rep book in case we ask for more. Ren and Ariels should expect to attend a dance call at the end of the day.

REN MCCORMACK – TENOR

Strong dancer, could pass for High School age.  17 and older. Teenager from Chicago, energetic, quick-witted, rebellious, loves to dance, out-going personality.  Non AEA $300 per week or AEA Tier One Guest Artistic Contract. Housing if necessary but would prefer local. Please indicate if you have your own car.

REVEREND SHAW MOORE – BARITONE

The powerful, traditional local church leader, strict, stern, and solemn, father to Ariel.

ARIEL MOORE– MEZZO-POP

Strong dancer/belt, Could pass for High School age. 17 and older. Smart, rebellious for a Reverend’s daughter, but more mischievous than negative.  Non AEA- $200 per week (must have your own local housing and car)

WILLARD HEWITT – TENOR

Strong singer/mover, Could pass for High School age.   A simple country boy who loves his mama.  Warm heart, big smile, comedic timing and “learns” to dance.   ($100 per week. must have your own local housing and car)

**RUSTY – SOPRANO – POP

Strong mover, Could pass for High School age.  16 and older. Ariel’s friend, sheet fun, strong belt, comedic timing.  Think girls from Little Shop, but with more lines.  

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE PLEASE VISIT  http://nptheatre.org/rustyauditions/.  All videos must be received by March 22nd, and finalists must sing a live audition at our JUNE 30TH.  Do NOT submit if you are unavailable on the May 3rd date.  $100 per week (housing provided if necessary). WE WILL NOT BE HEARING THIS ROLE AT THE MAY 30TH AUDITIONS.

VI MOORE – SOPRANO, 35-45

Reverend Moore’s loving, supportive, resilient wife.

Ren’s mother, had a tough go, just to make it through…would do anything for her son.

TEEN ENSEMBLE 

The Supporting “Teen” roles (Wendy Jo, Lyle, etc) will be played by the NPT teens in our program. If you are a college student or older who would like to be considered for the “teen” chorus part please sing a pop song of your choosing for this May audition. BRING YOUR BOOK too. You may be asked to read the side below so please download and print out. You may be asked to stay and dance.

There is not a per diem for the ensemble but those college students playing “TEENS” will also be allowed to participate in our professional master classes (Pop rock, Film and TV, Commercial Acting, Music Video, etc) that run throughout the rehearsal process. 

ADULT ENSEMBLE
